BATAVIA, Ohio — Miami Valley Christian Academy Football continued its strong start to the 2026 season Friday night, defeating Clermont Northeastern 49–28 on the road to improve to 2–0.
The Lions scored 14 points in the opening quarter and found the end zone in every period, finishing with their second straight victory to open the season.
Senior running back Aydin Sistrunk powered the MVCA offense, rushing for 242 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Sistrunk averaged more than 15 yards per attempt and now leads the Miami Valley Conference with 328 rushing yards through two games.
MVCA finished the night with 471 yards of total offense, including 330 on the ground and 141 through the air.
Quarterback Will Cameron completed 10 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown, while Drew Springer added a 27-yard touchdown pass. Cameron enters Week 3 ranked second in the MVC with 377 passing yards.
Jeremiah DesJardins led the receiving corps with three catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns. DesJardins is also among the conference's top receivers with 156 receiving yards and currently leads the MVC in touchdown receptions.
The Lions also continued to create problems defensively. DesJardins recorded a team-high 11 tackles with a sack and two tackles for loss, while Jonah Criste and Hans Erickson each finished with 10 tackles.
MVCA came away with multiple interceptions, including picks from Criste, Lucas Livezey, Aiden Frisby and Erickson. Livezey now has three interceptions on the season, tied for the MVC lead.
Through two weeks, MVCA's start has also placed the Lions among the top teams in the conference. MVCA leads the entire MVC with 89 points scored, 30 more than the next-highest total, and is one of only two 2–0 teams in the conference alongside St. Bernard-Elmwood Place.
The Lions have allowed just 28 total points, with only two MVC teams allowing fewer. One of those, North College Hill, has played only one game. Even more impressive, MVCA's defense has surrendered just one offensive touchdown through two games, with several of CNE's points coming on returns rather than against the defense.
Individually, the Lions currently feature the MVC's leading rusher, second-leading passer, a co-leader in interceptions, the leader in touchdown receptions and the leader in rushing touchdowns.
MVCA will look to keep the momentum going Friday when the Lions return home to face Deer Park.
