CINCINNATI, Ohio – Miami Valley Christian Academy football returns to the road Friday night as the Lions travel to face Western Hills in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Arch McCartney Stadium.
Friday's matchup will also be USA Night for the Lions.
MVCA enters the game 2-1 after opening the season with back-to-back road victories. The Lions shut out East Clinton 40-0 in the opener before putting together a 49-28 win at Clermont Northeastern. MVCA suffered its first setback last Friday, falling 48-6 to Deer Park in its home opener.
The Lions have scored 95 points through their first three games while allowing 76.
Lions Offense
MVCA has shown plenty of big-play ability early in the season, particularly on the ground.
Aydin Sistrunk has been one of the most productive rushers in the Miami Valley Conference, totaling 328 yards on just 30 carries for an average of 10.9 yards per attempt. He has scored six rushing touchdowns and is averaging 164 yards per game in his two appearances.
Through the air, Will Cameron has completed 29 of 55 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns.
Jeremiah DesJardins has emerged as one of Cameron's top targets, recording nine receptions for 180 yards and four touchdowns. Anthony-Jack Ardizzone has added eight catches for 99 yards and a score, while Lucas Livezey has nine receptions for 89 yards.
The balance between Sistrunk's production on the ground and the Lions' passing attack gives MVCA multiple ways to move the football Friday night.
Lions Defense
MVCA has also produced impact plays defensively through the first three games.
Livezey enters Friday with three interceptions, ranking among the MVC leaders in the category.
DesJardins has contributed on both sides of the football, recording 19 total tackles along with a sack, while Zach Holland has also registered a sack for the Lions.
Creating turnovers could be especially important against a Western Hills offense coming off its highest-scoring performance of the season.
Scouting Western Hills
Western Hills enters Friday's matchup 1-2 and is coming off a 66-48 road victory over Cincinnati Country Day.
The Mustangs opened the season with a 38-14 loss to Corbin (Ky.) before falling 41-28 to Roger Bacon. Western Hills broke through in a big way last week, scoring 66 points to earn its first victory.
Through three games, Western Hills has scored 108 points while allowing 127, setting up a matchup between two teams that have shown the ability to put points on the board.
