NEWTOWN, Ohio — After opening the 2026 season with back-to-back road victories, Miami Valley Christian Academy Football finally comes home.
The 2–0 Lions welcome Deer Park to the MVCA All Weather Field at 7 p.m. Friday for their first home game of the regular season.
MVCA enters the matchup after an impressive opening stretch. The Lions began the year with a 40–0 victory over East Clinton before following with a 49–28 win over Clermont Northeastern last Friday.
Through two games, MVCA has scored 89 points, averaging 44.5 points per game, while sitting atop the MVC White Division at 2–0.
Sistrunk Leads Lions' Ground Attack
Senior running back Aydin Sistrunk has been at the center of MVCA's fast start.
Sistrunk currently leads the Miami Valley Conference with 328 rushing yards through two games.
His biggest performance came last week against Clermont Northeastern, when he rushed for 242 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries in the Lions' 49–28 victory.
That performance earned Sistrunk the Week 2 Mella Window & Carpet Cleaning Player of the Week award from TriStateFootball.com. He received 34.07 percent of nearly 3,000 fan votes to take home the weekly honor.
Sistrunk and the MVCA rushing attack will look to carry that momentum into Friday's home opener.
Lions Producing Across the Offense
The production has extended well beyond the running game.
Sophomore quarterback Will Cameron enters Week 3 ranked second in the MVC with 377 passing yards, giving the Lions balance through the air.
Senior wide receiver Jeremiah DesJardins is tied for third among MVC receivers with 156 yards, adding another weapon to an offense that has found multiple ways to move the football through its first two games.
On the other side of the ball, junior Lucas Livezey has already recorded three interceptions, tying him for the conference lead.
The combination has helped MVCA put together its 2–0 start heading into its first Friday night in Newtown.
Another Unbeaten Team Comes to Town
Deer Park will provide the Lions with another early-season challenge.
The Wildcats are also 2–0, opening their season with a 43–0 victory over Norwood before defeating Shroder Paideia Academy 50–8. They have scored 93 points while allowing eight through two games.
Friday will be the first meeting of the season for two unbeaten teams, but for MVCA, it also marks the beginning of the home portion of the schedule after spending the opening two weeks on the road.
Lion Nation Comes Home
Friday's matchup will be the first opportunity for Lion Nation to see the 2026 team compete at the MVCA All Weather Field during the regular season.
The student section theme is Minions Night, with students encouraged to dress for the theme and bring the energy for the home opener.
