NEWTOWN, Ohio — Miami Valley Christian Academy football suffered its first loss of the 2026 season Friday night, falling to Deer Park, 48-6, at MVCA.
Deer Park jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter and added 14 more points in the second to take a 35-0 advantage into halftime. The Wildcats scored once in each of the final two quarters to finish the night with 48 points.
MVCA continued to battle and broke through in the fourth quarter when senior Jonah Criste scored on the ground for the Lions' lone touchdown of the night.
The Lions found success through the air, completing 12 of 16 passes for 112 yards. Drew Springer completed 4-of-6 attempts for 74 yards, while Aiden Frisby finished 8-of-10 for 38 yards.
Lucas Livezey led the receiving corps with four catches for 51 yards. Jeremiah DesJardins added a 24-yard reception, Hudson Sherf caught two passes for 18 yards and Frisby added a 14-yard reception.
Defensively, Hans Erickson and Bryson Jones led MVCA with seven tackles apiece. Layton Reeves recorded six tackles, including a tackle for loss, while Criste and Livezey each finished with five tackles.
Through the opening weeks of the season, several Lions remain among the Miami Valley Conference statistical leaders. Will Cameron ranks fourth in the conference with 377 passing yards, Aydin Sistrunk ranks second with 328 rushing yards and Jeremiah DesJardins sits fifth with 180 receiving yards. Defensively, Livezey's three interceptions rank second in the MVC.
The loss moves MVCA to 2-1 on the season after opening the year with victories over East Clinton and Clermont Northeastern.
The Lions return to action Friday, Sept. 11, traveling to Western Hills for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
