BETHEL, Ohio – Miami Valley Christian Academy volleyball continued its strong stretch Monday evening, sweeping Bethel-Tate 3-0 to earn its third consecutive victory and first road win of the season.
The Lions established control immediately, taking the opening set 25-14. MVCA maintained the momentum in the second, pulling away for a 25-18 victory to move within one set of the sweep.
Bethel-Tate battled in the third, but the Lions finished the job with a 25-20 victory to close out the match in straight sets.
Ruth Pryor led the MVCA attack with 10 kills and added a team-high nine digs. Vivian Bell turned in an efficient offensive performance with eight kills on 13 attacks, hitting .538, while Evelyn Merling contributed seven kills.
MVCA once again created problems from the service line, finishing with 19 aces. Kate Conn led the Lions with six aces, while Pryor, Ayla DeBra and Lillian Erickson each added three.
Conn also directed the offense with a team-high 19 assists, with DeBra adding six. Defensively, Erickson recorded six digs and Conn added five.
At the net, Reagan Meyer led the Lions with five total blocks. MVCA finished the match with nine total blocks as a team.
The Lions totaled 30 kills, 28 assists, 27 digs and 19 service aces in the victory.
The win improved MVCA to 4-3 on the season and extended its winning streak to three matches. The Lions returned home Thursday, Sept. 3, to face Seven Hills.
