CINCINNATI, OH — Miami Valley Christian Academy Boys Golf made program history Monday, earning its first trip to the OHSAA District Tournament as a team.

Competing in the OHSAA Southwest Division III Boys Golf Sectional Tournament at The Mill Course, the Lions fired a team score of 367 to finish third overall and claim the final team qualifying position. Seven Hills won the sectional with a 317, Cincinnati Country Day finished second at 357 and MVCA took third, just one stroke ahead of Dayton Christian's 368. The top three teams advanced to the district tournament.

The achievement marks another major step forward for an MVCA golf program that began just three years ago.

Garrett French led the Lions with an 83, opening with a 39 before shooting 44 on the back nine. His score was tied for the third-lowest round in the field. French has previously represented MVCA at the district tournament as an individual, but this time he will be joined by his teammates for the program's first team appearance.

Julian Gatts followed with a 90, while Davis Musuraca and Jeb Stagnaro each shot 97. Those four scores combined for MVCA's 367 team total. Eli Frazee completed the Lions' sectional lineup with a 105.

With only one stroke separating MVCA and Dayton Christian, every counted shot proved critical as the Lions secured their place among the district qualifiers.

MVCA will now advance to the OHSAA Southwest Division III Boys Golf District Tournament on Monday, September 28 at Heatherwoode Golf Club.
