SPRINGBORO, Ohio — Miami Valley Christian Academy boys golf will take the next step in its historic postseason run Monday, Sept. 28, competing in the OHSAA Division III Southwest District Tournament at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro.
The Lions enter their first district tournament as a team in the program's three-year history. MVCA earned its spot with a 367 at sectionals, led by Garrett French's 83. French, who previously advanced to districts as an individual, will now compete alongside Julian Gatts, Davis Musuraca, Jeb Stagnaro and Eli Frazee.
Monday's field features 12 teams and 12 individual qualifiers. The top two teams and the two lowest-scoring individuals not on qualifying teams will advance to the state tournament Oct. 12–13 at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury. Competition consists of 18 holes, with each team's four lowest scores determining its total.
MVCA will play alongside golfers from Minster and Newton Local, with all five Lions beginning on the first tee. Frazee opens at 9 a.m., followed by Stagnaro at 9:10, Musuraca at 9:20, Gatts at 9:30 and French at 9:40.
The Lions join Anna, Botkins, Cincinnati Country Day, Lehman Catholic, Minster, Mississinawa Valley, National Trail, Newton Local, Russia, Seven Hills and Tri-Village in the team competition.
MVCA's district appearance follows a regular season that included victories over Cincinnati Christian, Bethel-Tate and Reading, along with a fourth-place finish at the Miami Valley Conference Championships.
Spectator tickets are available online at OHSAA.org/tickets for $10 for adults and $5 for students.
